Dressing up the new pocket park

TEAM volunteers, armed with gardening tools and poised for
action, pause from their labors for a group photo at the
pocket park at the corner of Olympia and Taylor. TEAM
donated more than 400 shrubs for the beautification project
completed inn May 2007. Under the City’s supervision, the
volunteers planted the shrubs and helped spread the mulch
for the cooperative project. Presseller’s Deli volunteered
lunch and drinks for the hungry crew.
Team’s 3rd Annual Charity Golf
Tournament was a big success.
The March 31, 2007 event at St. Andrews South Golf Club in
Punta Gorda saw these folks come out for a day on the links.

TEAM Punta
Gorda’s 2nd annual meeting packs the house
More than 225 people
packed the Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association building on
November 9th, 2006, as TEAM Punta Gorda outlined future
goals and unveiled a new mission statement during its 2nd
annual meeting.

“Moving Forward” was the theme for the night and speakers
talked about future projects and summarized recent
accomplishments.
CEO Judy Brentano took the audience through a revised
mission statement and a renewed action plan. Committees will
expand and refocus to improve operations. Recruiting more
volunteers and increasing membership is being pursued. TEAM
will seek greater collaboration with other community groups
and form partnerships where possible. Expanded communication
about TEAM’s activities and role is another goal.

Committee leaders outlined activities and plans for grant
funding (Nancy Johnson), beautification (John Benande),
waterfront projects (Jay Buckley), affordable/workforce
housing (Cate Peterson) and more.
Community and Economic Development committee leader Tom Kerr
explained TEAM’s involvement in development issues, like the
federal grant that TEAM helped write and subsidize by paying
a $13,212 matching sum with the city for an economic
feasibility study. He talked about TEAM’s collaboration to
bring an economic/community development director to the
city. Kerr emphasized the importance of economic development
to the community’s future and shared a list of projects his
committee is following, assisting with, or developing.

And TEAM President Roger Kress bid adieu to one of the
organization’s key founders, Dan Brubeck who, among other
things, wants to catch up on his golf game.
